Become a volunteer

We are always looking for volunteers either to train as advisers, help with administration or provide reception duties.

To become an adviser you do not need any previous qualifications, skills or experience as all volunteers receive comprehensive free training, however, you will need to be open-minded, non-judgmental, be able to listen, learn and work in a team.

All volunteers are fully supported and supervised throughout their involvement with the CAB and they all find their involvement with us rewarding, satisfying and challenging. Every volunteer gains something different from their volunteering, whether it’s putting their existing skills and experience to good use to help others, gaining invaluable work experience to enhance their employability, getting involved with the community or making new friends.

If you can spare a day a week and would like more information on becoming a volunteer please call Sandra Timms on 01892 653596 or Liz Nicholson on 01825 767880. Alternatively, you can e-mail the bureau: bureau@uckfieldcab.cabnet.org.uk

Being an adviser involves intellectual challenge, as well as training to empathise with people and to understand their problems without being judgemental, patronizing or controlling. You develop a wider social awareness and – not least - have input into promoting change through the important social policy strand of CAB work. All this while working with a very supportive team.”
